Environmental Soil Science - Scholarships, Internships & Work Experience
Environmental soil science students can gain experience by working part-time during the academic year for soil research and service labs at University Park. The Natural Resource Conservation Service hires students in its Map Compilation Center at University Park, as does the USDA in its Pasture Systems and Watershed Management Reseach Laboratory. The Penn State Agricultural Analytical Services Laboratory and individual faculty labs also hire students. Summer opportunities to gain work experience both on and off campus are numerous.
In addition to part-time and full-time academic and summer jobs, students who maintain a B or better grade average are eligible to compete for scholarship funds administered by the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences (over $25,000 per year) and the College of Agricultural Sciences (nearly $1,800,000 per year).
